Conventional fire safety systems

This covers the range of heat and smoke detectors and alarms we supply and fit which indicate the part of a building (which floor for example) where a fire alarm as been activated. Suited to smaller properties, they serve the vital function of saving lives by providing an early warning of smoke or fire.

Intelligent / Addressable fire safety systems

This is a system which links all detectors and call points across a building to a central control panel so users can identify the location of fire, reducing investigation time.

Intelligent/addressable systems can be programmed to your precise requirements, and can even enable automated ‘shut off’ of appliances and equipment (lifts, ovens) in the event of a fire.

They are suited to larger buildings with high occupancy, such as hospitals and residential properties of at least six dwellings.

How do fire alarms work?

Fire alarm systems work by detecting the unwanted presence of smoke or heat by monitoring environmental changes associated with combustion. They are designed to notify anyone present in a building to evacuate in the event of a fire by sounding an alarm.

Some fire alarms are connected to a monitoring station which constantly assesses the system remotely so your property is protected even when you are not there. If fire is detected the alarm is raised both on the premises and at the provider company so key-holders and emergency services can be contacted to take action at the earliest possible stage, reducing damage and danger.

Sovereign can supply and install both traditional and intelligent/addressable alarm systems
